Argentina delivers vibrant city life and traditional foodie experiences at bodegones (taverns), while Greece beckons with sun-drenched islands and ancient ruins. In Uganda, misty forests guard intimate moments with mountain gorillas amid lush landscapes. Read on for some holiday inspiration for travelling in July.
Austria
Hiking trails weave through Alpine meadows bursting with wildflowers, opening onto sparkling lakes mirroring snow-dusted peaks. Up in the mountains, you’ll find traditional huts serving tasty dishes like schnitzel, goulash and strudel. July’s warmth invites exploration of charming Alpine villages, where dirndl-clad locals celebrate summer festivals. While a visit to beautiful Vienna’s coffee houses and museums is also a must.

Canada
Although Canada is a year-round destination, the Pacific Northwest in July is at its best. Wilderness retreats, like Vancouver Island’s Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge or Nimmo Bay Wilderness Resort, let you venture off-grid and reconnect with nature. Try fly fishing and foraging, or encounter grizzlies feasting on salmon and moose wading through the waters. Conversely, catch the tail-end of Montreal’s lively Jazz Festival.

Argentina
For a good blast of Latin beats and colourful street art, Buenos Aires is sure to excite the senses. In July, Mendoza to the west of the country, famous for Malbec and the flourishing wine industry, is a fantastic alpine retreat. Bathe in the thermal springs of Puente del Inca and trek the foothills of Aconcagua, South America’s highest peak. Be sure to head to Iguazu Falls which are a staggering 1.7 miles wide.

Greece
If sunshine is a must, then Greece has it in bucketloads! July is the warmest month of the year and attracts many visitors. Despite this, there are quieter islands like Skyros, Ikaria and the southern coast of Crete. Here you can find secret coves and hidden bays ripe for exploration. Once the heat of the day has waned, retrace historical footsteps at ancient ruins or watch the sunset from the whitewashed terrace of a traditional taverna.

Uganda
The main attraction of Uganda has to be the mountain gorillas at Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. With a population of half the world’s mountain gorillas, a visit to see these gentle giants in the rainforest is an exclusive experience. Visit Queen Elizabeth National Park for wildlife, including tree-climbing lions and the stunning Murchison Falls. Kibale offers chimpanzee tracking and Rwenzori Mountains is perfect for hiking.
